Public and media
relations.
As a former journalist, Carroll takes a “fact-based” and
journalistic-oriented approach to communicating client messages. “Puffery”
and vagueness are NOT part of his repertoire. He helps companies develop
media outreach plans and with operational details of media briefings and
press conferences.
Government and political
relations.
Unlike some consultants who specialize in state legislative
lobbying, Carroll’s contacts and background give him strong capabilities in
year-round public affairs efforts going all the way from city council
districts in Albuquerque to the 112-member New Mexico Legislature, and on
into Washington, D.C., where he has worked on congressional and Federal
Communications Commission issues. He is known and respected by key elected
officials of both major parties and by technical and professional staff in
agencies.
Business development.
Carroll is a business-oriented thinker and doer. He is a small
business person himself and has worked to help launch or grow a number of
small companies (primarily in tech fields). Too, he has had successful and
long-term business relationships with multi-national high tech companies.
Economic development.
Whether working for small or large companies located in New
Mexico, or for multi-member organizations, or via his membership in business
organizations, an unrelenting theme of Carroll’s work has been to help lift
New Mexico from its chronic low per capita income status among the states.
Coalition-building.
No consultant in New Mexico can match Carroll in this category --
both in terms of numbers of organizations launched, to successful outcomes.
The coalitions have included labor and management in the building trades, a
nonpartisan citizen-based “town hall forum” group, a statewide alliance of
high tech companies, a coalition of industrial electric power users -- and
more.
Strategic development.
Carroll has a strong record of helping clients not only develop
but implement effective strategies. He has a clear way of helping companies
and organizations figure out their objectives, prioritize, and get to work
getting there.
